How to shop safely on TikTok shop

TIKTOK shop is an e-commerce feature of the video app TikTok and officially launched in September 2023.

Popular TikTok creators often advertise products from the shop as they are given affiliate links which means they make money from referring followers.

Entrepreneurs can upload their products onto TikTok Shop for others to purchase.

However, it is important to stay vigilant when it comes to scams.

  1. Stick to verified sellers with good reviews—check ratings and feedback before buying.
  2. Avoid suspiciously low-priced items—“too good to be true” often is.
  3. Always pay via the in-app checkout, never off-platform.
  4. Avoid clicking links outside the app—especially unfamiliar domains or QR codes.
  5. Read product descriptions carefully and note return policies.
  6. Document your order—save screenshots and track delivery updates.
  7. Report suspicious activity through TikTok and initiate disputes if necessary.

“I share what I actually use. It pays well.

“And it gives me time to do the work I love. Simple as that.”

Among those commenting on the video were former Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan, who wrote: “It’s all well and good when people want us to share our finds for free but god forbid we make money from it all of a sudden ‘we’re struggling’.

“I can promise you people doing TikTok Shop are not struggling – it’s the most lucrative job I’ve ever seen!”

“Legend , what a great reply,” another said.
