Tyson Fury pays devastating tribute to Ricky Hatton after death, aged 46

Ricky Hatton has been found dead at his home in Greater Manchester today, with hundreds of tributes pouring in for the legendary boxer

Boxing heavyweight Tyson Fury has offered his heartfelt condolences following the passing of legendary fighter Ricky Hatton. The boxing great was found dead, aged 46, at his residence in Greater Manchester earlier on Sunday.


Authorities responded to a call. where they confirmed the discovery of a body. Police have stated that his passing is not considered suspicious. Countless tributes have flooded in since news of his death broke for Hatton, including from the likes of Piers Morgan. It has since emerged that Hatton was due to attend the Manchester soccer derby, between Manchester City and United on Sunday.

The accomplished boxer secured numerous world championship belts along with UK titles, earning Fighter of the Year honors in 2015. At 46, he had been preparing for a comeback bout scheduled for December this year.

Taking to Instagram, heavyweight champion Fury expressed his grief over the devastating news. He shared two photographs featuring himself alongside Hatton.

In his post, Fury wrote: "RIP to the legend @rickyhatton. May he rest in peace. There will only ever be one Ricky hatton. I can't believe this, he was so young."

The Brit who would have celebrated his 47th birthday in October, had been candid about his battles with mental health issues and substance abuse.


Countless messages have been sent following news of his passing, including from fellow Greater Manchester pugilist Amir Khan.

Born in Stockport, Hatton's career paralleled that of Bolton's Khan. In an extensive homage shared on X/Twitter, Khan declared that Britain has lost a "friend, mentor and warrior". Khan shared a photo of himself and Hatton together on X and wrote: "Today we lost not only one of Britain's greatest boxers, but a friend, a mentor, a warrior, Ricky Hatton.


"As fighters, we tell ourselves we're strong - we train, we sweat, we take hits, we get up. But sometimes the hardest fight happens in silence, in the mind.

"Mental health isn't weakness. It's part of being human. And we must talk about it. We must reach out. We must lean on each other.

"Ricky, thank you for everything. For your fights, your moments of glory, your grit. Thank you for pushing us, showing us what's possible.

"To everyone reading this: if you're hurting or struggling, you are not alone. Talk. Reach out. Because we need more light, more compassion, more understanding.

"Rest well, Ricky. You'll always have your place in the ring of our memories."

A GMP representative confirmed: "We can confirm that we have found a body at an address on Bowlacre Road in Gee Cross at 6.45am today, Sunday, September 14. The death is not being treated as suspicious."
