2026 World Series odds and where the New York Yankees rank among favorites
After bowing out of the MLB postseason early, the New York Yankees will begin the 2026 season among the favorites to win the World Series and break a 16-year title drought
With the 2025 MLB campaign in the rearview, it is time to look ahead to next season.
For the New York Yankees, that has been the case for weeks, having bowed out of the postseason to the Toronto Blue Jays in mid-October.
That result confirmed MLB’s all-time winningest franchise would go without a title for the 16th consecutive season, its longest run without a championship since the early 1990s.
In 2026, the Yankees have the second-best odds to win the World Series at +750, trailing only the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are priced at +370 to three-peat. If the Dodgers, who beat New York in the 2024 fall classic, defend their title again, they will become the first team since the 1998-2000 Yankees to win three straight championships.

In 2026, Yankees fans can likely bank on another MVP-caliber season from superstar Aaron Judge, but the question is how well the roster around him will be constructed.
Numerous key players from the 2025 roster are entering free agency, including Cody Bellinger, Trent Grisham, Paul Goldschmidt and Devin Williams.
The return of starting pitcher Gerrit Cole will give New York a huge boost. The 2023 Cy Young award winner won’t be ready for Opening Day but is scheduled to return during the regular season.
Cole was the Yankees’ ace during their 2024 World Series run before sitting out the entire 2025 season recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Pairing Cole with Max Fried, Carlos Rodon, and playoff hero Cam Schlittler makes for a strong starting rotation in the Bronx.
Other returning starters include Giancarlo Stanton, Ben Rice, Jazz Chisholm Jr, and Anthony Volpe.
The expectation is that general manager Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone, both of whose jobs were in question following New York’s latest playoff exit, will focus on recruiting contact hitting and defense to complement the power of Judge and Stanton.
Plenty can change between now and the start of the 2026 MLB season, from trades, to free agent signings, to injuries, and more. As things stand, the Yankees are poised to once again have their name in the hat come playoff time.
