Alex Rodriguez makes bold claim after Dodgers seal epic World Series win over Blue Jays
The Los Angeles Dodgers broke the heart of Toronto fans in attendance in Game Seven of the World Series with an incredible and dramatic comeback against the Blue Jays to capture the MLB championship
Major League Baseball legend Alex Rodriguez named the 2025 World Series as the greatest he has ever seen while watching the Los Angeles Dodgers comeback to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Dodgers had been down 3-2 heading into Game Six, able to win the final two games in Toronto to capture the World Series and become the first team in over two decades to win back-to-back titles.
After being down for most of Game 7, the Dodgers hit two home runs in the waning moments to steal a win away from the Blue Jays - who looked set to end their 32-year wait for a championship. Yoshinobu Yamamoto was named World Series MVP after an incredible pitching performance, starring alongside Japanese compatriot Shohei Ohtani.
A hit to second base saw fellow superstar Mookie Betts pull off the easy double play to end the series and break Toronto hearts - who looked destined to win at the bottom of the seventh innings.
Rodriguez, who won a World Series himself with his hometown New York Yankees, and could not speak higher of what he saw throughout this series.
He said: "You can’t make it up. In my lifetime, this is the greatest World Series I’ve ever witnessed.
"Really, really remarkable. Obviously we’ll talk about the Blue Jays later, tremendous team, but this Dodgers team showed us what it is to be a champion."
The Dodgers offense struggled mightily throughout the game, which looked like it had been the Blue Jays' night after some impressive pitching.
Los Angeles put Ohtani on the mound, in the hopes it could give the offense the boost that they had needed.
Ohtani gave up a three-score home-run while looking demoralized before being pulled, with Yamamoto then coming on and pitching sensationally.
Yamamoto had won the series MVP for his incredible performances, with the Dodgers celebrating their win into the early hours with them set to continue in Los Angeles in the coming days.
The Dodgers will look to become the first team since the New York Yankees to win three straight World Series in 2026.
