Tom Brady's biggest takeaway from Jaxson Dart isn't on the NFL field
Tom Brady has delivered his verdict on Jaxson Dart after the New York Giants rookie threw an 'unacceptable' interception in a stunning capitulation against the Denver Broncos
Tom Brady is a big fan of New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, and it is the former Ole Miss star's demeanour off the field that has impressed the seven-time Super Bowl champion the most.
Although the Giants have made a 2-5 start to the season, first-round pick Dart has breathed new life into a beleaguered franchise and was at the heart of a statement victory over the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago.
The 22-year-old also put his team in position to beat the Denver Broncos in Week 7 before falling victim to an astonishing fourth-quarter comeback at Mile High Stadium, which was aided by a brutal interception. More disappointment followed for the rookie, who was fined by the NFL alongside head coach Brian Daboll and running back Cam Skattebo.
The Giants face an uphill battle to keep their postseason hopes alive after the defeat in Denver, but that has not prevented Dart from garnering plenty of admirers since taking over from Russell Wilson as the starter after three games.
Brady is on the call for FOX's coverage of the Giants' rematch with NFC East rivals the Eagles, and ahead of the game, the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers icon made clear why he has been so impressed by Dart's early forays in the pros.
"He’s got all those QB1 traits I look for. And I think what I like is all the things that come out of his mouth," Brady said on 'FOX NFL Sunday.'
“I always look at quarterbacks and go, ‘how would I answer that question?’. When I hear Jaxson Dart, especially after last week’s loss at Denver, it was the same way.
“Taking accountability for mistakes, he also is this competitive kid. He said to me on the call this week, ‘Tom, I’m not into moral victories. So I’ve gotta make better plays, the team’s counting on me.'
"This organization loves him a lot. And they are all invested in him and there’s a lot of reasons to be.”

His dual-threat ability and chemistry with fellow rookie Skattebo has energised the fanbase and inspired hopes that better times await the Giants after seven losing seasons in the past eight years.
Brady was particularly impressed by Dart's reaction to the defeat in Denver, taking ownership and showing leadership in his postgame press conference.
"My feet got a little stuck in the ground. I have to be way better than that. That s--- is unnaceptable and I've got to be better," Dart told reporters.
