Cincinnati Bengals 'open' to Trey Hendrickson trade as Sunday decision made

The Cincinnati Bengals have known all year that Trey Hendrickson would prefer to be traded after requesting a move twice over the last two years with a move not yet ruled out before the deadline

The Cincinnati Bengals may have finally opened the door to moving Trey Hendrickson for the first time as the superstar pass-rusher reportedly looks to be dealt, and have made him inactive for Sunday's game

Hendrickson handed in a trade request in April 2024 and March 2025, while wanting a long-term deal which the Bengals have been hesitant to hand him, paying Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins huge contracts.

The defensive end has been one of the best and most productive pass-rushers in the league over the last two years, but has not been given the contract his play has deserved. The Bengals have not wanted to move off of him, with their struggling defense needing his play to stand a chance at winning in the postseason.

But with Burrow's injury putting the team in a rough spot this year, the Bengals are now potentially open to listen to offers - with them potentially accepting a second-round pick for his services.

FOX reporter Jay Glazer said: "They said no originally (to trading him), but now they are potentially saying yes to teams interested. It seemed like a hard no about a week or so ago, and now it's not."

A number of teams are sure to be interested in Hendrickson, with the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks being the four most likely landing spots.

The New England Patriots could also be a team to watch should the Bengals agree to send him to an AFC team.

The Bengals have a 3-5 record, with a loss to the Chicago Bears this weekend potentially seeing them become more open to moving on from Hendrickson.

Hendrickson has long made it clear that he wants to be traded, despite returning to the team on a one-year deal this season. The Bengals could franchise-tag Hendrickson again next year, but that's a move that will almost certainly see him hold out.

Interestingly, Hendrickson has been made inactive this week, while said to be struggling with a hip injury.

He led the league in sacks with 17.5 last year, despite playing in a struggling defense that saw the team get ran the ball on - limiting his pass-rushing opportunities.

The NFL's trade deadline will officially close at 4pm ET on Tuesday, November 4.
