Zac Taylor's face says it all after Bears stun Bengals with last-minute TD

The Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears clashed in an all-time classic in Week 9, with Caleb Williams throwing a last-gasp 58-yard touchdown to snatch the victory

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor could only look on in disbelief as the Chicago Bears scored a dramatic game-winning touchdown.

On Sunday in Week 9, the Bengals and Bears took part in a classic at Soldier Field. Both Caleb Williams and Joe Flacco - who enjoyed a classic with Aaron Rodgers recently - put on a show, with the former Super Bowl MVP throwing for 470 yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Williams threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns while hauling in a touchdown reception himself. The Bengals pulled off a remarkable comeback to take a late lead, but the Bears won 47-42 courtesy of a dramatic late score.

Down 42-41 with 25 seconds remaining and no timeouts, the Bears were inside their own half with little hope of victory. But Williams hit Colston Loveland for a gain that would have put Chicago in field goal range, only for the rookie tight end not to go down.

Loveland broke a tackle and spun out of another before burning away to score a stunning 58-yard touchdown. Soldier Field erupted, the commentators couldn’t believe it - and neither could Taylor.

Broadcast cameras panned to Taylor, who could only grimace as he glanced at replays. The comeback, orchestrated by the incredible play by Flacco, was in vain.

Flacco and the Bengals had one more attempt, but it was too little, too late. The Bears' defense made the stop, intercepting Flacco’s Hail Mary attempt to ice the game.

The win means the Bears move to 5-3 and return to winning ways after losing against the Baltimore Ravens a week ago. After the exceptional victory, Williams heaped praise on his tight end.

“We drafted him for a reason — to make plays like that in the big moments,” Williams said. “I know these guys believe in me in those moments, and all I have to do is go out there and deliver my good ball, and they go break tackles and go win us the ball game.”

The Bears selected Loveland with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

He was Ben Johnson’s first selection as head coach, and the 21-year-old repaid some of the faith in a big way against the Bengals.

The 5-3 Bears are now in the hunt for the NFC North title.

Chicago is next in action against the 2-7 New York Giants at Soldier Field on Sunday, Nov. 9.
