Horrifying video emerges as ICE agents break NY marathon runner's ribs after race practice
More and more videos of heavy handed arrests from ICE are emerging as the impact of Donald Trump's crackdown on immigration continues with communities across the US bearing the brunt of it
A shocking video reportedly shows a 67-year-old preparing to run the New York Marathon getting pulled from his car and thrown to the ground suffering six broken ribs.
The unidentified man now won't be able to compete in today's race, a member of his running team said. The horrifying incident took place last Saturday, in the middle of a children's Halloween parade in a Chicago neighborhood, according to local residents. This comes after an ICE agent was seen pointing a gun at members of the public.
The man's running club, DWRunning Racing Team, took to social media to share details of his terrifying ordeal. The man, who remains unnamed but is identified by the club as a U.S. citizen, was driving home after a run when he was abruptly pulled over by border patrol officers. He had just finished a morning run and was heading back home through the city's Old Irving Park neighborhood when he found that Border Patrol agents had blocked off the road leading to his house, the statement read.

According to the club, the man was forcibly dragged out of his car and thrown to the ground shortly after agents "threatened to break his window," if he didn't move his vehicle.
Writing on Threads, author Joanne Lee Molinaro said: "Just found out my running teammate was brutally assaulted by ICE, had six ribs broken, causing internal bleeding. This may prevent him from running the NYC marathon he’s been training for in the past 4 months. Why? Because he was trying to get home from the team long run, found his road blocked by ICE, and he didn’t move his car out of the way quickly enough."
Footage shared by the club shows the runner gasping for breath on the ground, pleading, "I'll move my ... get off of me," as agents kneeled on his back while handcuffing him. Bystanders can be heard shouting, "Get off of him," and "You're f-ing suffocating him!" at the agents as they filmed the disturbing scene.
The club alleges that the man suffered six broken ribs, which led to internal bleeding during his detainment.
A neighborhood was thrown into chaos as Border Patrol agents swooped in to conduct an immigration enforcement raid, according to ABC News. Locals claim the officers disrupted a children's Halloween parade and unleashed tear gas without any prior warning.
Residents were left in shock as masked agents released what seemed to be tear gas in their peaceful neighborhood.
"We were supposed to be standing on this corner with hundreds of families, walking around, and we're just being terrorized by ICE," one distraught resident told the news outlet.
The unexpected Border Patrol activity forced locals to move the Halloween parade to a nearby school for safety.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) defended the agents' actions, stating they were acting in self-defense after a crowd gathered during the arrest of a construction worker who was in the country illegally.
Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said in a statement to ABC that the agents "had to deploy crowd control measures" to protect themselves from an aggressive crowd.
Authorities were carrying out an operation to apprehend an illegal immigrant from Mexico "who has previously been arrested for assault," officials informed the news outlet.
"During the operations, Border Patrol agents were surrounded by a group of agitators. Federal law enforcement issued multiple lawful commands and verbal warnings, all of which were ignored," McLaughlin added.
Two US citizens were taken into custody for assaulting and obstructing a federal officer, Mclaughlin confirmed.
"To safely clear the area after multiple warnings and the crowd continuing to advance on them, Border Patrol had to deploy crowd control measures," the statement continued.
