UK train stabbing: 10 wounded on Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, train as police race to scene
British Transport Police have confirmed that multiple people have been stabbed on a train heading to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, on Saturday evening
A major incident unfolded Saturday on a U.K. train, with 10 people taken to hospital, including 9 with life-threatening injuries.
The horrifying event took place on a train heading toward Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, on Saturday, according to police reports. Two men have been apprehended by authorities after the train was halted at the station.
British Transport Police issued a statement saying: "We are currently responding to an incident on a train to Huntingdon where multiple people have been stabbed. "Officers are in attendance alongside @CambsCops and two people have been arrested. "Further updates will be shared here."
Huntingdon station is believed to be temporarily closed as police and other emergency services respond to the situation. No trains stop at the station.

"Armed officers attended, and the train was stopped at Huntingdon, where two men were arrested. A number of people have been taken to hospital.
"The incident remains ongoing, and the A1307 has been closed as you approach the town center.
"Officers are working with British Transport Police, who are leading on the incident."

Authorities are urging anyone with information to report it online at Cambs Police by quoting incident 495 of today.
If you're unable to get online, it's recommended to dial 101 and provide any pertinent details.
The specific train involved in the incident has not been identified yet. However, operators with services that stop or pass through Huntingdon have issued updates for their passengers.
Several people were to taken to the hospital following the incident, said the East of England Ambulance Service. A spokesperson said, "We were called at 7:38 p.m. to reports that multiple people had been stabbed on a train.
"We mobilized a large-scale response to Huntingdon Railway Station, which included numerous ambulances, tactical commanders, our Hazardous Area Response Team, and critical care teams, including the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.
"We can confirm we have transported multiple patients to hospital. Further updates will be issued by British Transport Police."
A spokesperson for LNER announced: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident at Huntingdon, all lines are blocked.
"Train services running through this station may be delayed. Disruption is expected until the end of the day. Please check before you travel."
Thameslink also provided an update on X, advising passengers traveling to or from Huntingdon to seek an alternative route. The statement reads: "At this time, Huntingdon station is closed and no trains will call here in either direction until further notice. If you are traveling FROM Huntingdon, you will need to use an alternative route of travel or travel later on today where possible.
"If you are traveling to Huntingdon from Peterborough, please speak to station staff and alternative travel will be arranged. From the direction of Hitchin, please instead travel to St Neots/Peterborough and speak to staff for alternative transport. You should allow 30 minutes additional to complete your destination."
Ben Obese-Jecty, MP for Huntington, expressed his thoughts are with the victims involved.
'Brutal mass attack'
Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp MP said in a post, "Horrific scenes in Huntingdon, in what seems to be a brutal mass attack by two perpetrators.
"My thoughts are with all those injured or affected and the emergency services responding.
"The police and government should provide an update on what happened and who has been arrested as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, Eddie Dempsey, general secretary of the RMT trade union, said he was "deeply concerned" about the incident. "The thoughts of everyone at RMT are with the victims, train crew and all the emergency services dealing with this unfolding incident."
Paul Bristow, the mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, issued a statement as well, writing, "Thoughts and prayers with everyone affected."
Prime Minister Keir Starmer released a statement on X that read: "The appalling incident on a train near Huntingdon is deeply concerning.
"My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response.
"Anyone in the area should follow the advice of the police."
The Home Secretary said she was “deeply saddened” by the incident in Huntingdon and urged the public to “avoid comment and speculation at this early stage”.
In a statement on X, Shabana Mahmood said: “I am deeply saddened to hear about the stabbings in Huntingdon.
“My thoughts go out to all those affected. Two suspects have been immediately arrested and taken into custody.
"I am receiving regular updates on the investigation.
“I urge people to avoid comment and speculation at this early stage.”
Disturbing scene
A passenger told The Sun that there was "blood everywhere," as the "horrific" scene turned to "pure chaos."
"It was a terrible scene. It was like something from a film," the passenger told the outlet. "It didn't feel real and just sparked pure panic onboard. Shocked onlookers were shaken and traumatized."
Another eyewitness said they saw commuters coming out of the train "covered in blood" after it arrived on the platform.
Some passengers hid in the bathroom to escape the rampage. "I heard some people shouting we love [you]," a witness said.
Another person told Sky News that he saw someone moving through his train car, saying, "I've been stabbed."
