The unusual name of Anne-Marie's son

She revealed that she had settled on the name 'Forever Sugar."

“Okay, his name is Forever. Yeah, Forever Sugar. Sugar is his middle name, because I had the diabetes thing you get when you’re pregnant," said Anne-Marie in the interview, referring to gestational diabetes.

'Forever', on the other hand, is an ode to her grandmother.

“Well, it’s a weird thing really because my nan used to sign off every card with always and forever,” she added. “All the time. And now my mom does it and my sister does it and I just think Forever is, I don’t know, it’s just a cool name.”

Anne-Marie and husband Slowthai welcomed her second child in May, breaking the news with a series of photos of their newborn in a hospital cot.

She wrote in the caption: "Another beautiful little thing has entered our lives. Hello everyone."

What is gestational diabetes?

Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy that causes high blood sugar levels, typically appearing in the second or third trimester. It can pose risks for both the mother and the baby, but is usually manageable through lifestyle changes.

Anne-Marie shared that she was having unusual cravings during this time, stating, "'The other day I really wanted to eat a steak and I’ve never eaten steak in my whole life."

What people are saying

Fans were not entirely impressed with the name she chose for her son, and took to Reddit to share their thoughts.

A user wrote, "I should have named my kids Heartburn and Swollen Ankles." While another added, "You named your kid after diabetes?"
