'I dumped my date because he did not like my dogs - they always come first'
Model Nyla Caselli ended a budding romance after her date dismissed her three Pomeranians, saying, “If you can’t handle my dogs, you can’t handle me"
For Nyla Caselli, love has a non-negotiable rule...her three teacup Pomeranians come first.
The 23-year-old social media star, who reportedly earns six figures a month through her online ventures, said she ended a promising relationship the moment she sensed her date didn’t appreciate her dogs, Roman, Moba, and their pup Koa.
“I had a date who came over and just completely ignored my dogs,” Caselli said. “I could tell straight away that he didn’t like them and that’s a total dealbreaker for me.” Caselli, who shares glimpses of her life with nearly a million followers on Instagram (@nylacaselli), recalled the subtle signs that sealed the man’s fate.
“He’d complain when I’d put them on the couch, make snide little comments like ‘They’re too much,’ and act like they were an inconvenience,” she said. “I could see it in his face every time they ran into the room.”
That evening marked the end of the relationship. “I stopped talking to him completely that same day,” she said.
“I told him straight away: ‘You go, they stay.’ I closed the door behind him and honestly felt like a weight had been lifted. Choosing my dogs over him was the easiest decision of my life.”
Caselli, who lives in a six-bedroom home, said she’s no stranger to people being jealous of the attention she gives her dogs.
“Men have always been jealous of the attention I give my dogs,” she added. “I realized I will always pick them over any man or even friend who can’t handle it.”
Over the years, Caselli said she’s distanced herself from friends who questioned her devotion to her pets.
“I’ve cut ties with people who rolled their eyes about my dogs’ vet bills or how much I care for them,” she said. “They are like my babies. If you’ve got a problem with them, you’ve got a problem with me.”
Her trio of pups live a lavish lifestyle. Roman and Moba were imported from Korea at a cost of $10,000. Koa, their son, now enjoys custom-made meals, designer outfits, and plush accommodations, including a $600 acrylic penthouse.
When Caselli travels, she hires a babysitter who charges up to $1,000 a month. She said she FaceTimes her dogs daily and even celebrates their birthdays with dog-friendly cakes and party hats.
"They come with me everywhere,” she said. “My whole routine is based around my pets. If you want to be with me, you have to love them too, and if you can’t, you’re gone. No man will ever come before my dogs."
