SNL star Michael Che savagely roasts Prince Andrew losing his royal titles
Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, and will no longer keep his royal title as well as his royal lodgings according to an official royal statement
Saturday Night Live has taken a savage swipe at Prince Andrew, after the senior royal is to step down from his royal titles and lose his 'Prince' title.
It was announced last week that Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, and will no longer keep his royal title and honors, as well as his royal lodgings.
As part of the latest episode, SNL comedian Michael Che joked at the latest news from the royal family, poking fun at Andrew's previous allegations and disgrace due to his links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The 42-year-old joked to viewers and the audience, "Prince Andrew has been stripped of his royal title of 'Prince' due to his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein, and Andrew says he can only become a prince again if he gets a kiss from a young princess."
Prince Andrew's titles have been revoked, as per the statement from Buckingham Palace and King Charles. Buckingham Palace revealed in October that the disgraced Royal will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
The statement read, "His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honors of Prince Andrew.
"Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.
"These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him. Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse."
As part of the move, Andrew will be forced to move out of the 30-room Royal Lodge, which he shared with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. Andrew gave up the use of his other titles, including the Duke of York, in October, following mounting pressure about his relationship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has strongly denied all of the allegations.
It is also understood that Andrew did not object to the King's decision and had Prince William's support in deciding private matters.
However, royal author Richard Fitzwilliams has suggested the changes might not sit well with Andrew, as he shared, "I think it will be pretty well a living hell for him, given his particular fondness for titles and his entitled attitude. One of the troubles with him is that he has proven to be so greedy,” Fitzwilliams added. “People see him as entitled, greedy, and also unbelievably bovine."
