Saturday Night Live fans all say same thing as latest episode delayed

Fans patiently awaiting Saturday Night Live to start their October 18 episode hosted by Sabrina Carpenter were left disappointed after college football delayed the episode's start

As fans were waiting for Saturday Night Live to kick off on NBC for their October 18 episode, they were left confused and angered when the show had a delayed start due to college football.

Just as the episode was about to start, the official SNL Twitter account took to the platform to update fans, saying, "We’re starting a little late due to college football. We'll be live at 11:42!"

But fans of the show, and the episode host Sabrina Carpenter, were not satisfied with the explanation. One took to the same platform to write, "Why is the news still going, SNL isn’t SNL if it’s not Live. Then it’s just SN." It comes as Sabrina Carpenter left fans shocked by dropping the F-bomb TWICE during the live broadcast.

"WHY IS SNL LIKE 10 MINUTES LATE WHAT THE F---," another wrote. One more added, "SNL STARTS AT 11:43PM NOW?? ISTG if they cut ANYTHING.."

"Nobody gives a flying f---ing s--- about local sports, @WSAZ SHOW US F---ING SNL!" one particularly angry fan posted.

A Carpenter fan added, "we don’t want football we want sabrina being pretty and witty on our screens!!"

"I set an alarm and woke up from my nap just to see Sabrina just for the show to be delayed," added someone else.

"Snl cutting sabrina carpenters monologue super short bc of the college football delay.... nbc when i get you," one fan threatened. Someone else critiqued, "horrible cold open option- is this because of the delay?"

Once the episode kicked off, one fan speculated, "Are they like not allowed to laugh as much because of the delay? Like why is no one laughing at all lol #SNL"

"Just realized peacock is probably gonna shut snl off early bc of the delay. losing my mind actually," another suspected.

Carpenter, 26, is making her return to 30 Rock after previously being a musical guest last season. This will mark her first time hosting and performing the same episode.

The star first appeared on SNL in May 2024 as a musical guest, performing her hits “Espresso” and “Feather/Nonsense” and taking part in a “Scooby-Doo” sketch.

She returned again for the special SNL50: The Anniversary Special in February 2025, where she performed a duet of “Homeward Bound” with Paul Simon and joined a sketch alongside Pedro Pascal and Bad Bunny.

Ahead of her appearance, a promo saw her channeling a Carrie Bradshaw-style voice-over, declaring, "New York is one big apple, and I’m taking my bite at Saturday Night Live.” She was sporting Bradshaw's signature curly hair while mimicking her actions in the show.

The delay to the highly anticipated episode came following a day of college football. Particularly, the Notre Dame vs. University of Southern California game set back the long-awaited SNL airing.

The game saw Notre Dame win with a ten-point lead over the Trojans.
