The View's Ana Navarro slams former colleague Pam Bondi after SNL parody
Ana Navarro didn't hold back on Monday's episode of The View as she dissed Pam Bondi after a recent Saturday Night Live sketch. She opened up about Pam's pre-MAGA attitude.
Ana Navarro didn't mince words during Monday's episode of The View as she took aim at Pam Bondi following a recent Saturday Night Live sketch.
After all, Ana had a personal history with Pam before their relationship fizzled out in recent years. Before becoming a co-host on The View in 2013, Ana made her name as a prominent political strategist and commentator. While she's historically been associated with the Republican party, she's emerged as a fierce critic of the MAGA movement, including the current United States Attorney General.
On the show, she revealed, "I've known Pam Bondi for a long time, I haven't spoken to her obviously in a few years but, this is a completely different Pam Bondi than the person I knew in Florida who was an affable, nice."
During Pam's tenure as Attorney General in Florida, Ana was heavily involved in the state's contentious political landscape. She worked on the transition team for Florida governor Jeb Bush in 1998 and played a key role in implementing his immigration policy afterward, reports the Irish Star.
Ana and Pam traveled in similar circles, but Ana reassured The View audience that Pam was entirely different back then.
Ana and The View's panel shared laughs over Saturday Night Live's spoof of Pam and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey portrayed the political figures, who reacted with a somewhat upbeat spin.
Whoopi Goldberg noted, "So, Bondi responded to the bit and tagged Kristi Noem, writing, 'Should we recreate this picture in Chicago? Loving Amy Poehler.' Is leaning into this right?"
According to Ana, Pam's post demonstrated that she "thinks it's a good thing" to be parodied by the show, despite "people skewering them and making fun of them."
Ana continued, "And probably, for her with the MAGA base and with Trump, it is a good thing. I think being skewered and imitated on Saturday Night Live — we've all been imitated — is kind of like a rite of passage."
She went on, "I think she's loving this. I think she's loving the fact that it's, you know — that we are talking about her this morning — is probably raising her stock with the MAGA base, but, frankly I think what she's doing to the institution of the DOJ and the oversight in Congress is shameful and embarrassment and is going to go down in history as one of the worst performances by an attorney general in front of Congress."
But Ana's co-star didn't entirely see eye to eye.
Sara Haines, recognized for her more left-leaning moderate positions, believed that Pam's reaction was the only logical one.
She remarked, "I think the only way you can reply to comedy and look like you can take a joke is by doing what she did. I think the only way to handle jokes like that are so lean into them because otherwise you just look dumb."
