Saturday Night Live was quick to extend their sympathies to Diane Keaton at the weekend, after her tragic passing at the age of 79.

After the news dropped, a tribute card, including a black-and-white photo of the iconic star, flashed across the screen to conclude the television show. In the photo, Diane wore her dark hair down as she wore a striped shirt. She popped on a white blazer and spotted tie to bring together the look. To accessorize, Diane wore a boutonnière.

The network shared the tribute to the Saturday Night Live social media account. Plus, Amy Poehler honored the legend, who boasted a massive net worth, with a wardrobe statement, wearing a collared shirt and tie to sign off the show.

According to People, Diane died on Oct. 11. A spokesperson told the outlet, "There are no further details available at this time, and her family has asked for privacy in this moment of great sadness."

Her cause of death was not immediately released, but the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed they arrived to Diane's home at 8:08 a.m. PST before taking her to a hospital.

A friend told People, "She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her. It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit."

Diane was a massive Hollywood movie star, appearing in films like Father of the Bride, The Family Stone, Book Club, and Because I Said So. She extended her entertainment career into directing, working on movies such as Unstrung Heroes, Hanging Up, and the documentary Heaven.

Additionally, she was well-known for her fashion, leaning into a genderless look. As captured by her SNL tribute, Diane was known for her tailored suits and bowler hats.

Plus, at the end of her life, Diane dabbled in music, releasing a rendition of Last Christmas in 2024. While music wasn't her main gig, she did work on some music videos, directing projects for stars like Belinda Carlisle.

The actress was never married, but did adopt two children, Dexter and Duke, raising them as a single mother. However, she did formerly date A-listers such as Al Pacino, Warren Beatty, and Woody Allen.

Fans were crushed by the news of Diane's death. A fan wrote, "One of the reasons I think we all loved Diane Keaton is because she was so wholly herself: kooky, goofy, klutzy, whimsical. Even sometimes a little out of pocket. In an era of artificial personalities and people with no vibes, she owned who she was and never faked it."

Another said, "Diane Keaton broke the mold. She changed what a movie star could be. She wasn't an ingenue or a bombshell or a vixen. She was just a normal human woman. She was so natural you never felt like she was acting. Always felt like she could be your bestie or your mom. RIP."
