Taylor Swift fans notice hidden mention in latest South Park episode

Taylor Swift's mention comes as South Park's recent episode trolls FCC chairman Brendan Carr and US President Donald Trump for Jimmy Kimmel's recent ABC suspension

Taylor Swift fans have noticed her hidden mention in the latest South Park episode, ahead of the release of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl.

Wednesday night's episode, titled "Conflict of Interest," followed Kyle, who is upset when he realizes his friends are using a market prediction app to bet on whether his mom will bomb a hospital in Gaza. However, when he calls the app's strategic advisor, who turns out to be Donald Trump Jr, he is told to contact the FCC, as they are "dealing with all the offensive stuff now."

The episode then features Brendan Carr, the FCC's chairman, who is painted in a less-than-positive light, as well as Donald Trump and Satan. There is also a reference to Jimmy Kimmel, who made headlines after he was suspended from his ABC show last week.

However, eagle-eyed fans spotted another celebrity reference in the form of Taylor Swift. Whilst on the betting app, viewers can see other bets the boys can place, including one about the 35-year-old singer.

Underneath the bet about Kyle's mom, in which only 5% of people believe she'll blow up a hospital, there is a bet titled, "Will Taylor Swift release a new album this week?" 15% voted "yes", which is unsurprising as Taylor is set to release her next album in just over one week's time on October 3.

This is the first episode South Park has released since Charlie Kirk's killing. Charlie, 31, died on September 10 after he was shot at a student rally at Utah Valley University.

Following his death, South Park took down an episode mocking Charlie. The episode in question, "Got a Nut," first aired on August 6, and it showed character Eric Cartman visiting university campuses for "debates" like Charlie, adopting his hairstyle and mannerisms.

However, Charlie saw the funny side in it, calling the episode, which ends with the "Charlie Kirk Award for Young Masterdebaters" being handed out, "hilarious" in a TikTok posted on August 7.

After his death, South Park's most recent episode was delayed, with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone telling fans, "Apparently, when you do everything at the last minute, sometimes you don’t get it done. This one’s on us. We didn’t get it done in time. Thanks to Comedy Central and South Park fans for being so understanding. Tune in next week!"

Sadly, though, if fans were hoping for another South Park episode soon, they'll need to wait as the next one is expected to drop in three weeks.
