Nicki Minaj praises 'icon' Taylor Swift following their messy fight over MTV VMAs nominations

Nicki Minaj recently divulged who her 'favorite' women were in the industry, and some would be surprised to know that included in her round-up was a star she feuded with in the past

Nicki Minaj only has a handful of favorites in the music industry and she recently acknowledged who they were during a live stream.

Amid her latest live stream on Stationhead, the Beez In The Trap rhymer played the songs of the women she was honoring. Included in her list were Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and surprisingly Taylor Swift. Although Nicki has collaborated with Rihanna, Ariana, and Taylor, at one point T-Swift and her were feuding.

However, Nicki’s recent praise of Taylor further proves that their beef has long been squashed.

Nicki noted at the top of the playlist she shared in the live stream that included the above mentioned artists’ music that the women were some of her “fave girls of all time,” according to a screen shot that captured her live stream post that was shared on X, formerly Twitter. She also dubbed them "icons."

The rap superstar praising the singer-songwriter is reflective of how much their relationship has evolved over the last decade. Years ago Taylor and Nicki Minaj fell out at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

At the time, the Anaconda rapper took to then-Twiter to rant about her nominations at the awards ceremony that year.

"If I was a different 'kind' of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well,” she wrote on what used to be Twitter. "When the 'other' girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination."

Taylor, who had got a whopping total of nine nods at the 2015 VMAs, felt targeted by some of Nicki's cryptic tweets. This led her to reply, "I've done nothing but love and support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot."

Eventually, they sorted their issues out and reconciled. In 2023, Nicki publicly showed that there was no more drama between the two pop culture icons.

That year, Nicki took to X to compliment Taylor for consistently releasing quality music. In response to a fan who asked if she and Taylor would potentially collaborate together in the future, Nicki wrote she would do so “in a heartbeat.”
