"This is their adult selves looking back at their childhood dreams, that are now shattered in front of them. So when you look back, I think people will see only both movies as one, not just the first movie and the second movie," Jon told People. "I'm excited to complete the story for people."

He teased that there would be a "few surprises" for fans to anticipate, noting that he believes the surprises would be something fans aren't "thinking about right now."

Wicked: For Good furthers the storyline presented in Wicked, which originated from the long-running Broadway musical of the same name. The OG Wicked, the musical prequel to The Wizard of Oz, began with Idina Menzel portraying Elphaba, and Kristin Chenoweth starring as Glinda.

The 2025 Wicked film features beloved songs from the original Broadway soundtrack of the musical, such as For Good, As Long as You're Mine, and No Good Deed, as well as two new additions, No Place Like Home, sung by Cynthia, and The Girl in the Bubble, sung by Ariana.

Along with Cynthia and Ariana, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, Peter Dinklage, Bowen Yang, and Bronwyn James will be reprising their roles in part 2.

New faces joining the cast include Colman Domingo, who will voice Brrr, a.k.a. the Cowardly Lion, an animal character whom Elphaba and Fiyero (Jonathan) once rescued as a cub.

What will be covered in the sequel is the different paths Elphaba and Glinda take after the specific choices they made. Wicked: For Good is scheduled for theatrical release on November 21, 2025.
