Sutton Foster will be impacted 'significantly' by Hugh Jackman romance, expert warns
EXCLUSIVE: Hugh Jackman has finally gone red carpet official with his new girlfriend and fellow actress, Sutton Foster, leaving many to wonder what this could mean for her career
Just two years after splitting from his ex-wife of 27 years, Hugh Jackman made his first official red carpet appearance with his new lady, Sutton Foster, a year after they allegedly began a secret relationship.
The couple was pictured attending the screening of Song Sung Blue at AFI FEST in Los Angeles, California, last week (October 26). The red carpet debut comes two years after the Wolverine star, 57, split from his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, 69, in 2023 and one year after Sutton, 50, filed for divorce from her ex-husband, Ted Griffin, in October 2024.
Hugh and Sutton both packed on the PDA as they posed for snaps, seemingly showing the world that things are pretty serious between them now.
After making what many have deemed a significant statement in their growing relationship, PR expert Chad Teixeira weighed in on what this move could mean for Broadway star Sutton, particularly for her career.
"Being linked with a Hollywood A-lister like Hugh Jackman inevitably amplifies Sutton’s visibility, especially beyond Broadway, where she’s already highly respected," the PR expert exclusively told Mirror US.
Chad then pointed out, "The challenge is ensuring her talent doesn’t get overshadowed by tabloid noise. If she and her team manage the narrative well, focusing on her professional achievements and upcoming projects, this moment could elevate her career significantly."
"But if it becomes defined by the affair rumors, it could distract from her artistic credibility. Strategic media positioning will make the difference," he warned.
In January of this year, the couple went public with their romance after being spotted holding hands on their way back from a dinner date in Santa Monica, California.
Rumors about the motivation behind their bond began circulating in 2021, when the two actors co-starred in The Music Man on Broadway together from December 2021 to January 2023. The speculation deepened in November 2024, after Us Weekly cited sources who claimed Hugh and Sutton's romance started during the musical’s run, while they were still with their exes.
Hugh split from Deborra-Lee, his wife of 27 years, in September 2023. The former couple share two children: Oscar, 25, and Ava, 20.
At the time of their divorce filing, the former pair shared a joint statement to their fans, which read, "We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."
In May, Deborra-Lee broke her silence on the divorce, calling it a "profound wound that cuts deep." Her statement to the Daily Mail continued, "My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal."
"Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose. It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom," she concluded.
