Watch the haunting moment Ghost Adventures star finds out wife plotted his murder
Aaron Goodwin's life appeared to flash before his eyes the moment he found out his wife had hired a hitman to murder him while he was in the middle of filming Ghost Adventures
If being in a haunted location wasn't scary enough, Aaron Goodwin was left frantic after receiving a call from the police about his very own murder.
The 49-year-old Ghost Adventures star was in the middle of filming his popular paranormal reality show when he got a life-changing phone call from police who revealed they had arrested his wife for plotting his murder.
Aaron and his co-host, Jay Wasley, were setting up UV lights and Polaroid cameras to take photos in an abandoned medical facility in Southern California when the presenter said he was feeling something peculiar. "I feel like something's happening," Aaron said ominously.
But rather than a supernatural encounter normally reserved for an episode of his show, Aaron was picking up on something far worse. He was hit with the news that officers were at his home. "Bro, police are at my house," a seemingly confused Aaron shouted, as his tone turned panicked. He then ran out of the eerie location to take the call outside, leaving Jay behind.
"That's fine, but I'm not staying in here by myself," Jake replied before following his co-star out of the building. Ghost Adventures then cut off the footage there, shielding viewers from the remainder of the gritty conversation where Aaron was told that his wife, Victoria, had been arrested and charged for conspiracy to commit murder, according to TMZ.
Police allege she had been messaging with an inmate in Florida about getting out of the marriage. "Am I a bad person?" she allegedly wrote to Grant Amato, before asking, "Because I chose to end his existence. Not divorce."
Police said that she and Grant had saved up more than $11,000 to pay for the hit. The two were allegedly having an affair, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Their plot was discovered when police found Grant's contraband phone. The inmate was already serving time for killing his mother, father and brother.
As a result of the bombshell revelation, Aaron filed for divorce less than a week after his wife's arrest. According to KSNV, he stated in the complaint that there was no chance of reconciliation. Victoria pled guilty to conspiracy to commit murder in April.
Two months later, after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors, Victoria was sentenced to a minimum of three to seven-and-a-half years behind bars in Nevada.
According to US Weekly, she apologized to her estranged husband during a court appearance in June. She said, "I'm so immensely sorry for the pain and anxiety I’ve caused you and the betrayal you undoubtedly and rightfully feel by my actions.
"I need you to know that I will always hold love for you. I genuinely pray you find your joy and peace again, and I will bow out of your life forever to hopefully ease that process. I’m sorry I broke us, and I’m consumed with regret every day."
She concluded, "My absolute promise to you is that you’ll never see or hear from me." Aaron and Victoria had been together for seven years, but married in 2022.
Ghost Adventures first aired in 2008 and follows Zak Bagans, Billy Tolley, Aarron and Jay as they travel the world tracking down alleged hauntings. The 30th season of the show landed on Discovery+ this month, and ahead of the episode's airing, Aaron posted about the episode, explaining it caught the moment he recived that dreaded call.
"This next episode of [Ghost Adventures] is when I got the FaceTime call from the cops," he captioned an Instagram post. "They were in my house & told me what she did & she was arrested. I won’t be watching this episode cause I don’t want to relive that night again & what happened before the call."
In another post shared a few days before, he thanked his supporters for their love and opened up about his mental health amidst the ongoing divorce.
"They say in time everything gets better but I just want the divorce to be over so I can move on with my life," he penned, adding, "Honestly, I probably couldn’t make it through an interview without being in tears and I’m just not ready yet. This has been the worst year of my life."
