David Muir has not one but two lavish properties in New York with the World News Tonight host sharing his lavish townhouse with beloved dog Axel who he regularly posts on social media
ABC anchor David Muir is a household name for his work on-screen, but the popular host has always remained private about his personal life.
One aspect that fans have had a glimpse of is his $7.5 million New York City townhouse, which he shared with his dog Axel. His strong bond with his beloved pooch and his love of posting pictures of him on Instagram helped fans get some insight into their home.
David, 51, listed the four-story West Village home for sale earlier this year, along with the historic 2,280-square-foot townhouse, located on West 4th Street, which dates back to 1877. The home features marble fireplaces, expansive windows, and high ceilings that fill it with space and natural light.
He bought the house for $4.2 million in 2013, the same year he took over from Diane Sawyer as the host of World News Tonight. David has undertaken several renovation projects on the space over the years to modernize it, but he has maintained the original character of the home.
The realtor described how he has "kept and restored original details including hardware, flooring, fixtures, and historic plaster medallions and moldings throughout." The parlor floor features two living rooms, complete with original moldings and seven-foot-tall French windows.
Meanwhile, in the living rooms, an ornate marble fireplace and soaring ceilings create an airy, elegant space. The room also features dark furniture, which contrasts with the simplistic white walls.
Downstairs in the property, there is an open-plan kitchen that has pristine marble countertops, with high-quality appliances, and access to a private garden, the ideal setting for Axel. Upstairs, three bedrooms provide luxurious sleeping accommodation.
The master bedroom occupies the entire first floor, featuring an office and a vintage-style bathroom with a claw-foot tub. In the basement, there is a laundry room and storage.
A Sonos sound system is installed throughout the residence, and plans have been approved for a rooftop terrace offering views overlooking the city.
Another property David, who reportedly has a net worth of $25 million, has is a home on Skaneatles Lake. The journalist purchased the lakeside home for $7 million in 2019.
David reportedly spends his weekends and vacations at the lakefront property near where he grew up in Syracuse and where his family still resides. The 4,300-square-foot property was built in 1890 and has six bedrooms, two kitchens, three bathrooms, and a fireplace. The home also has a swimming pool.
David has posted snippets and sneak peeks of his upstate home and Axel on his Instagram. He got the German Shorthaired Pointer in 2019.
