Fox News host brings Erika Kirk to tears after showing footage of late hubby Charlie
Erika Kirk gets emotional during her appearance on the Fox News show, Jesse Watters Primetime, after the show's host brings up her late conservative activist husband, Charlie Kirk
Erika Kirk shed some tears during her first interview following the assassination of her conservative activist husband, Charlie Kirk, last month.
The 36-year-old widow was captured crying in a teaser clip from her upcoming appearance on the Fox News show Jesse Watters Primetime after program host Jesse, 47, played her video of Charlie talking about Turning Points USA before his death. Charlie founded the organization in 2012. Erika is seen in the snippet of the episode, which is scheduled to air on Wednesday, watching the Charlie clip Jessie played for her for a few seconds before beginning to sob.
She then informs Jesse that the clip he showed her was the longest clip of the deceased media personality she's viewed since he was murdered amid his appearance at Utah Valley University in early September. It comes after Erika undercut JD Vance's praise after an 'inappropriate' embrace at an Ole Miss event.
At the end of the clip, Erika admitted that he didn't marry Charlie to further his cause, but simply because she was in love with him.
In the wake of Charlie's murder, she's been keeping his legacy alive as she continues to honor him publicly. Last month she graciously accepted the Presidential Medal of Freedom on her late husband's behalf after President Donald Trump, 79, posthumously awarded him with it on October 14, which would've been his 32nd birthday.
"You have given him the best birthday gift he could ever have,” Erika Kirk told Trump after the POTUS presented her the award during a ceremony held at the White House Rose Garden. "Thank you for loving us. Thank you for praying for us and for believing in what Charlie believed in."
She continued: "He never stopped fighting for people to experience freedom,” mentioning that his birth name, Charles, literally meant "free man."
Also, during the prestigious ceremony last month, Erika also touched on why Charlie's birthday was so special to her. She explained that she always told Charlie, who she believed now "wears the crown of a martyr," that she loves his birthday because "it’s the day that God knew the world couldn’t go another day without you."
She stated: "Charlie, baby, I know you're celebrating in heaven, but gosh, I miss you." Days after his death, Erika speculated on why Charlie was killed during a televised, tearful address she made on September 13, marking her first public announcement since his assassination.
"They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith, and God's merciful love," she admitted. Charlie is survived by his wife and their two children.
