Bill Clinton sports mystery bandage on nose during surprise New York marathon appearance

Former President Bill Clinton appeared at the NYC Marathon with a bandaged nose, sparking questions about his health

Bill Clinton turned heads at the New York City Marathon this weekend, but not for his political career or famous family ties.

The 79-year-old ex-president showed up at the finish line with a visible injury, his nose wrapped in a thick bandage, as he embraced his daughter, Chelsea Clinton, after her race.

Clinton, who’s dealt with major health scares over the past two decades, including a 2004 quadruple bypass and multiple hospital visits since, hadn’t been photographed with the nasal bandage before Sunday’s appearance.

Chelsea, 45, a seasoned marathon runner, was cheered on by both of her parents at the event. Hillary Clinton appeared in good spirits beside her husband, who has largely kept a low profile in 2025 after making waves on the campaign trail last year stumping for Kamala Harris.

Clinton’s appearance comes amid lingering public curiosity over his health.

In July, he was photographed with a portable defibrillator slung over his shoulder while leaving the Hamptons. The device, often used by those with serious cardiac conditions, only intensified concerns over his well-being.

Despite keeping a distance from most media since Donald Trump’s reelection, Clinton made a brief political comeback in 2024.

He delivered an energized speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago after President Biden withdrew from the race.

According to insiders, Clinton rewrote his speech days before taking the stage to match the new momentum behind Harris.

He also made an appearance in New York politics earlier this year, publicly congratulating Zohran Mamdani on his primary win for mayor.

The move raised eyebrows, given Clinton’s more centrist record during his presidency.

When asked recently about his place among aging American leaders, Clinton joked that he’s still younger than Trump, by two months.

He’s also three years junior to Biden and remains the second-youngest living president behind Barack Obama.

Still, the man once dubbed the "comeback kid" isn’t bouncing back quite like he used to.

His most recent hospital stay, due to a reported fever and dehydration, took place less than a year ago.

Clinton was seen leaving the marathon in a black van, flanked by NYPD officers.
