Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo get matching tattoos amid Ethan Slater drama

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have been the best of friends since they started filming Wicked 2 and now they have taken their friendship to the next level

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, stars of Wicked 2, have unveiled matching tattoos ahead of the release of Wicked: For Good on November 21.

The actresses, who play Glinda and Elphaba in the beloved musical, have formed a tight-knit bond, solidifying their friendship with identical tattoos. Ariana shared a snapshot on her Instagram page showing her and Cynthia's hands, each bearing the phrase 'For Good' in a simple black font beneath their thumbs.

Alongside the image, the pop star penned, "Happy wicked month ♡ 20 days." The pair decided to get "For Good" inked as a tribute to the second installment of the Wicked films, reports the Mirror.

This comes amid reports that Ariana and her other co-star, Ethan Slater, are on the rocks. The two started dating during the filming of the first Wicked film, shortly after their marriages to their respective partners ended.

But now insiders report that the couple might be headed for a breakup as Ethan reportedly isn't loving the high-profile lifestyle. Meanwhile, Cynthia and Ariana's camaraderie blossomed on the set of Wicked, and now they appear to be inseparable.

However, their close relationship sparked a viral moment last year that left fans puzzled. During an interview with journalist Tracy Gilchrist, she cryptically told the film's stars that fans were "holding space" for the lyrics of "Defying Gravity," one of the musical's most iconic songs.

Gilchrist asked them if they were aware that "people are taking the lyrics of 'Defying Gravity' and really holding space with that and feeling power in that," which elicited an emotional reaction from Cynthia.

Neither seemed to know exactly how to respond, and Ariana reached out to hold Cynthia's finger as they exchanged glances.

After the clip initially gained traction online, Gilchrist explained her comments to Variety, stating, "'Holding space' is being physically, emotionally, and mentally present with someone or something," noting that fans were "finding solace or inspiration" in the song following Donald Trump's election.

The two stars consistently remain side by side at promotional appearances.

Discussing their bond, Cynthia revealed, "I think we found a little piece of ourselves in each other. I think there are little pieces of us that, when we got together to do this together, when we first started, each of us was missing a little chunk."

The Broadway star has credited her "best friend" Ariana with inspiring her to pursue music rather than medicine. Her sophomore album I Forgive You dropped in June.

The three-time Oscar nominee, who has secured Grammy, Emmy, and Tony accolades, shared about Ariana, "At the very beginning when we were doing rehearsals, that's when I sort of decided that, okay, time to write this album. Coaxed by Ariana because she wouldn't let me get away with it!".

Reflecting on her initial ambitions, Cynthia explained, "I decided I wanted to be a spinal surgeon, randomly. Because I was good at biology and I was starting to get the hang of it.

"I was one of those kids that was good at reading, good at doing all those things and good at class work, but I could also sing. So my left and right brain were sort of like, doing a battle."
