ITV's celebrity diving show Splash returned with nearly 5 million viewers, not quite as big a splash as it made with last year's first series.
The second run of the show, featuring Olympic medallist Tom Daley, began with 4.9 million viewers, a 21.1% share, between 7.20pm and 8.50pm, down from the 5.6 million (23.6%) who saw last year's launch show.
ITV will be hoping the second series, like the first, manages to hang onto its audience, with 5.6 million watching Eddie "the eagle" Edwards become its first champion.
The Bridge opens again
More than a million viewers watched the return of Scandinavian drama The Bridge to BBC4 on Saturday night.
The drama, starring Sofia Helin and Kim Bodnia, had 1.05 million viewers, a 4.5% share, between 9pm and 10pm, with another 830,000 (4%) watching the second of the 10-part series which followed immediately after it.
It eclipsed the audiences for the channel's other best-known overseas dramas, including The Killing and Borgen, but was not quite enough to match the 1.097m who saw the first series of The Bridge launch on BBC4 in April 2013.
Ross v Allen
Splash wasn't ITV's only returning show. Dating series Take Me Out was back at 8.50pm with 4.4 million viewers, an 18.5% share. It did better than The Jonathan Ross Show which followed it, with 2.3 million viewers, a 10.6% share of the audience, down 55% on ITV's slot average over the last three months.
BBC2's Dave Allen night proved popular, scoring its best audience with Dave Allen's Immaculate Selection, up against Ross on ITV with 2.9 million viewers, a 13.7% share, from 10pm.
Earlier, ITV's coverage of Arsenal's 2-0 win over Tottenham in the third round of the FA Cup had 5.2 million viewers (25.2%) across the entirety of its coverage between 4.45pm and 7.20pm.
