“Are you going to let someone else be your writer? My life is my story to write.” ✍️

That powerful philosophy comes from our own Team SA swimmer, Abigail Kotze, who has made a huge statement at the African Games, securing multiple individual GOLD medals!

We often only see the medals, but Abigail’s journey of resilience is truly inspiring. She speaks candidly about the challenges she faced: moving homes multiple times, the difficulty of online schooling, health issues, and, toughest of all, battling intense self-doubt after missing key team cuts in 2023.

The turning point? When she realized that instead of quitting, she had to ask, ‘What do I change to get better?’

Supported by her dedicated coaches, Abigail is now channeling every negative thought and comment into pure motivation. Her message to everyone: “Drown out the rest of the world and those who doubt you. You are capable of anything you set your mind to.”

A massive congratulations to Abigail on her incredible success and her powerful determination to be the best swimmer she can be!
