Proctors Nursery has opened its annual pumpkin patch in time for Halloween and this year's harvest is their biggest and best yet. The nursery has grown over 15,000 pumpkins, squashes and gourds. Head pumkin grower Dan Dawson said "With the warm summer we've had this year we've exceeded our usual crop of over 30 different varieties as pumpkins and squashes are real sun-worshippers. The perfect conditions have helped with the giant pumpkin we've christened 'Donald Trumpkin' which visitors can guess its weight for a cash prize." The patch is open to the public from Friday to Sunday throughout October.

The Birches Head, Stoke-on-Trent ST1 6LL

A unique way to pick your pumpkin, Julie and Simon at The Birches Head have teamed up with a local allotment where families can pick their pumpkin within a short walk from the watering hole. Once you’ve chosen your pumpkin, you’re invited back to the pub to carve it.
