Daniel Libit

Daniel Libit is an investigative and enterprise reporter for Sportico. He previously co-founded The Intercollegiate, a college sports outlet that gained national attention for its inventive use of public records journalism. Prior to covering sports, Libit spent over a decade reporting on national politics for Politico, National Journal, The Daily, CNBC.com, and other outlets, before launching an experimental blog dedicated to scrutinizing the University of New Mexico Lobos. In 2017, the New York Times profiled Libit and his exploits as, “The Blogger Who Became One University’s Scold.” In addition to his reporting, Libit has been an active and successful plaintiff in open records lawsuits involving universities and their athletic departments. He is frequently asked to speak to college journalism and law school students around the country. Libit and his family reside in suburban Chicago.
