Claim:
Video shared in October 2025 authentically depicted a pregnant woman claiming her doctor had told her to leave Texas as she neared birth.

In October 2025, a video circulated online in which a pregnant woman from Texas was crying because her doctor had told her she needed to leave the state as she neared birth to because her pregnancy was hight-risk. In the video, the woman said she opposed abortion, but her doctor said she may need an abortion later in her pregnancy, a procedure that is banned in Texas.

For example, an Oct. 9 Reddit post said the woman was a "confused victim of MAGA disinformation," referring to U.S. President Donald Trump's Make America Great Again slogan (archived):

The woman in the video said, "I'm starting to regret the way I voted, the way I've been thinking and honestly I'm scared for my life." She added she had never been told that doctors performed late-term abortions to save the life of the mother in high-risk situations.

Some readers seemed to interpret the rumor as a factual recounting of real-life events. However, this video originated as satire.

The TikTok account @pamelawurstvetrini, which describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature, posted the original video. The caption under the video includes the tags #satire, #engagebait and #skit (archived):

The caption also said the proceeds from the video would go to Planned Parenthood, a nonprofit organization that provides reproductive and sexual health care and has long advocated for free and safe abortions.

In another TikTok video titled "Engage Bait: The facts are real, the stories are not," Paula Wurst Vetrini explained she opposes MAGA but posts such videos to engage with "the other side," i.e., Trump supporters, to "cross the bridge:"

She made several other videos in the same vein, addressing different topics, in which she said she lived or was from Florida, Oklahoma, Alabama or Tennessee. In each of the videos she said she had voted for Trump, but disagreed with him on the issue she discussed in the video.

Snopes has addressed other satirical claims about abortion in the past, including the assertion in 2024 that Democrats had dyed the Chicago River red to celebrate abortion.
