Cameron’s
Background
Cam started his career in a range of
construction and engineering roles, followed by
five operational years in the fire service. He then
joined Saipem and supported multiple of
offshore energy projects, before joining Wood
as a Senior Consultant in our Wind Advisory
team in June 2024.
Cam is a Chartered Engineer with a Master’s
degree and PhD in Engineering from the
University of Warwick. He is also continuing to
develop through further study and research in
energy at the University of Oxford.
“Undertaking a
PhD while
working was
one of the
hardest
challenges of
my life,
however the
rewards are
lifelong.”

What you enjoy most about
working at Wood?
The variety of projects and the flexibility
within the group across different
technologies. I joined the wind team
with a focus on offshore projects but
have been involved with onshore wind,
BESS and solar projects.
I feel that I've been able to really add
value in a range of ways, but its also
been a huge growth opportunity for
me. My involvement in projects has
been right through from selling and
business development work to crawling
on my hands and knees through
offshore structures under construction.

Why Work at Wood?
At a developer or contractor in clean energy you
can sometimes be dedicated to one project
potentially over five years, I am often involved
in five projects during a week. Since joining
wood 6 months ago I've been involved with over
3 GW of renewable energy projects.
The ASG allows you to really develop and grow
across elements of the whole project life cycle,
giving you a broad outlook and perspective of
the bigger picture.
“Wood has
given me the
tools to develop
in the sector
across such a
variety of
projects.”
A presentation by Wood.
5
What has been your best
moment in Wood so far?
Standing on the roof of a Nordex wind
turbine in the middle of the Polish
countryside, with a clear 20-mile view in
all directions on a quiet sunny day.
More generally, supporting some of the
clients distressed project’s overcome
challenges progress, working through
challenging issues has been very
rewarding.
“Not many
people get to
climb a turbine,
it was an
incredible
experience!”
