Meeting History

The first SLEEP meeting was held in Columbus, Ohio, in June 1986. Since its inception nearly 40 years ago, SLEEP has become the world’s premier clinical and scientific meeting for sleep medicine, sleep and circadian research, and sleep health, attracting attendees from across the U.S. and around the world. The SLEEP exhibit hall also has become the leading showcase for the latest advances in sleep-related diagnostics and therapeutics. Each year, the APSS is proud to bring together a diverse and dedicated group of attendees, speakers, and exhibitors to contribute to the advancement of sleep medicine and sleep science.

SLEEP 2025 Recap

In 2025 the SLEEP meeting was held from June 1 – 5 in Seattle, Washington, and welcomed an all-time record attendance of more than 6,000 people. The program included more than 100 sessions spread across three tracks: clinical sleep science and practice, basic and translational sleep and circadian science, and the technologist track.

The opening plenary session honored the 2025 AASM and SRS award recipients and the APSS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Award recipient. Keynote speaker Jerome Siegel, PhD, discussed his research exploring the role of hypocretin neurons in sleep regulation. More than 1,600 research abstracts were presented in oral and poster formats, and 148 exhibitors displayed the latest innovations in sleep medicine.

SLEEP 2026 Preview

The SLEEP 2026 annual meeting of the APSS will be held June 14 – 17 at the Baltimore Convention Center. Pre-conference postgraduate courses will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14. The general session will begin Sunday afternoon, June 14, and continue through Wednesday, June 17. In addition to the clinical and scientific program, the meeting will include an expansive exhibit hall, multiple poster sessions, industry-supported events, and networking opportunities.

Perched on the Chesapeake Bay and rich with maritime charm, Baltimore offers a vibrant backdrop for the meeting. Attendees can stroll along the lively Inner Harbor, visit the renowned National Aquarium and Fort McHenry, explore eclectic neighborhoods filled with art and history, and savor the city’s famous blue crabs and fresh seafood.
