Seattle industrial project Mortal Realm has released the political single “ROT (And Decompose)” via Negative Gain Productions. The track is out as a digital single on Bandcamp and major streaming platforms.

The song continues Adam V. Jones’s blend of electro-industrial, EBM and dark electronic textures, now applied to US politics and power. He describes “ROT (And Decompose)” as “a critique of the current administration and a challenge to those who supported it in the past or present to confront the greed and malice hidden beneath its promises,” with an opening sample that mirrors “what happens when blind confidence replaces empathy and awareness.”

“ROT (And Decompose)” was written, recorded and mixed by Adam V. Jones, with mastering by Krischan Jan-Eric Wesenberg at Studio-600.

About Mortal Realm

Mortal Realm is the solo, multi-genre industrial project of Seattle-based musician Adam V. Jones, who previously worked in the Los Angeles esoteric-industrial duo Haex alongside Sarah Graves and created the solo project Sterling Silicon. Musically the project offers a mix of industrial, goth and post-punk with an electronic core, combining club-oriented rhythms with atmospheric and metal-tinged elements. The project is signed to US label Negative Gain Productions.

Jones first introduced his project via digital releases on Bandcamp, before announcing a full-length debut with Negative Gain. The album “Stab In The Dark” followed on 5 July 2024 as a seven-track set issued on digital, CD and vinyl formats through Negative Gain. Its tracklist comprises “Ox,” “Trash,” “Death Debt,” “The Face,” “Nostrum Nepenthe,” “Terminal Fate” and “The Bitterness of Life.”

Our review of the album “Stab In The Dark” described Mortal Realm as “the brainchild of American artist Adam V. Jones, previously known for his work with Haex and the lesser-known Sterling Silicon,” and described the album’s seven tracks as leading “the listener down a dark, intense Electro path where EBM and Industrial collide.”

Mortal Realm returned in late 2025 with the single “With A Heavy Heart,” released digitally on 7 November 2025 via Negative Gain Productions. And now there is “ROT (And Decompose).”

Since you’re here

we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
