Paris-born neoclassical/minimalist pianist Matt Wilier has announced a new four-track EP titled “Winter Movement” via the French label Bruit Blanc, to be released this Friday December 21st.

“Winter Movement” runs 11 minutes and 25 seconds. Wilier recorded the material about a year before release, during a snowfall in the French Alps, and held it back to avoid putting out a winter-themed record as spring approached.

The EP follows a run of 2025 releases around the same label cycle, including “Playing with Light” (EP), the single “The Intensity Of Resonances (Recomposed)”, and “Promises” (released via the AD21 compilation “Sketches – Autumn”)

About Matt Wilier

Matt Wilier is a Paris-born French neoclassical and minimalist pianist and composer. Wilier began improvising on piano at age 5 and later studied at a conservatory, before focusing on minimalist and repetitive approaches and on the piano’s resonances and vibrations. When it comes to other artists his work is heavily influenced by the work of Maurice Ravel, Keith Jarrett and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

His first release was the EP “Jours” (2019), out via Bruit Blanc. Bruit Blanc released the 11-track album “Variations” in June 2024 offering a broader arrangement approach than solo piano. Earlier that year he had already released the “Urban moonlight” EP.

In September 2024, he recorded some solo piano tracks after a series of improvisational recordings, which he released in short bursts: “Burning Through The Ground” and “‘”A Suspended Moment'”, a two track EP. Also out the same year was the two-version release of “Together” (February 28, 2025). In 2025, Bruit Blanc released the single “The Intensity Of Resonances (Recomposed)” (October 10, 2025), “Promises” (published on the AD21 compilation “Sketches – Autumn”, October 23, 2025), the EP “Playing with Light” (November 21, 2025), and the EP “Winter Movement” (December 21, 2025).
