‘Vanderpump Rules’ Beefs Up SUR Roster in Season 12 Teaser

Vanderpump Rules is beefing up its roster at SUR. In a sneak peek video into Season 12, the cast of employees at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant sets the stage for some dramatic pumping, partying, and picking sides. “I used to say SUR is where you take your mistress,” Vanderpump says in the clip. “But now, it’s probably where you meet her.”
Returning on Dec. 2, Vanderpump Rules brings new cast members into the family and embraces their messiness along the way. “This is SUR, we’re a family,” Vanderpump says. “They’re not perfect, but they’re mine.”
On and off the clock, keeping business separate from pleasure is getting difficult, as newcomer Angelica Jensen admits in the teaser. She already has her sights set on Shayne Davis, whose Hinge profile she looked over more meticulously than a resume. Other employees, like Venus Binkley, are juggling their ability “to work, party, have sex.”
“I’ve always said with my staff,” Vanderpump says, “‘give me anything, but don’t give me boring.’”
Last year, Bravo announced that it would do a total recast for Season 12 of Vanderpump Rules. It marked the first full reboot on the network since Real Housewives of New York overturned their cast during its 14th season. The news also followed the aftermath of a cheating scandal that revealed a months-long affair between Tom Sandoval and Rachel Leviss behind Ariana Madix’s back. Rather than make futile repairs, it seemed best to start from scratch.
“What made Vanderpump Rules fun was the sheer level of chaos on display. The cast went from enemies to besties, to lovers and exes all in one episode, week after week,” Rolling Stone wrote about the series last year. “Against a backdrop of reality TV that was focused on wealth and opulence, the lives of the SUR staff initially provided an element of escapism and even a level of relatability to the audience … This began to change as the stars grew up and forged lucrative careers as influencers and business people beyond Vanderpump’s restaurants.”
