Non-biting midges occur naturally in the aquatic environment. These midges do not bite or spread diseases although they could cause nuisance when present in large numbers. PUB is actively monitoring and managing midge populations at Pandan Reservoir and Bedok Reservoir through mitigating measures that control the midge population at various stages of its life cycle. Fogging is carried out to target adult midges present around the reservoir rip-rap and surrounding vegetation in the morning and/or evening during which most midges emerge. Residents and Park users are advised to plan their visits accordingly.
