Kara W. Drane, FAICP

Kara W. Drane, self-driven and creative, has committed her career to making peoples’ lives better through planning. When Hurricane Katrina devastated Mississippi, she served a pivotal role in her county’s response and recovery. She has devoted decades to leadership service within the Mississippi and South Carolina Chapters and on the APA Board – with her greatest legacy being recognized nationally for her exceptional leadership of the Mississippi Chapter. Kara’s second greatest planning legacy is the Midtown Hattiesburg Plan – a planning vision for which she successfully secured funding and is now a reality with $150 million in new investments making lives better.
