Tooth decay is the most common chronic health problem for children in California. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that over 40% of children have cavities before they start kindergarten. Because of this, the California Department of Public Health are funding the work of Placer County’s Public Health Division to help prevent tooth decay. The Placer County Oral Health Program teaches about dental care and works to increase access to early preventive services. The goal is to help more people in Placer County stay free of cavities.
