Gungu is a Northeast Bantu language spoken by about 49,000 people on the shores of Lake Albert mainly in the Buliisa District in north of the Western Region in the northwest of Uganda, and also in the nearby Masindi and Hoima districts.
Gungu is also known as Rugungu, and Gungu speakers call their language Lugungu and themselves Bagungu. It is written with the Latin alphabet.gung
