Arammba is spoken by about 970 people in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea, particularly in five villages between the Fly River and Morehead in the south of the Western Province. It belongs to the Tonda branch of the Yam language family, which is possibly part of the proposed Trans-Fly-Bulaka River group of languages.
Arammba is also known as Aramba, Serki, Serkisetavi, Upper Morehead, Rouku, Kamindjo or Tjokwasi. It is written with the Latin script, and Arammba-speaking children are taught to read and write their language in preschool. However, the Arammba people are semi-nomadic with little access to materials for reading and writing.
