The Office of Inspector General (OIG) maintains a Hotline for receiving allegations of fraud, waste, abuse, or mismanagement affecting U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) programs or operations. Allegations may be reported 24 hours a day, seven days a week by DOT employees, contractors, or the general public. Download Fraud Awareness Posters for your workplace.

Yes, you may remain anonymous. However, we encourage you to identify yourself in the event additional questions arise as we evaluate or pursue your allegations. Please consider providing your name and contact information to allow for follow-up contact if needed. In many cases, our inability to reach you for follow-up may prevent a comprehensive review of your complaint.
The Office of Inspector General will protect the identity of complainants to the maximum extent possible by law. Confidentiality is established by Section 7(b) of the Inspector General Act of 1978, which precludes the IG from disclosing the identity of a DOT employee who reports an allegation or provides information, without the employee's consent, unless the IG determines that disclosure is unavoidable during the course of the investigation.
