the fact man i need has had over 100,000 more streams than golden on pretty much every spotify daily update for the past month and hasn't bagged the #1 yet is crazy. did occ forget spotify is the biggest form of music consumption in the uk? hopefully they switch places when her album comes out, this feels like one of the biggest #2s in a long time

Mrstarling I am 36 nearly 37 and i grew up with better chart music than todays teens i feel a little sorry for them. Repetitive charts, no bands. Even the 2010s were better.

I'm a teenager, from some of your comments i assume you're quite a lot older (probably double my age) I shouldn't be the one explaining to you that it's a kink. It's quite obvious.

This week- I streamed Sombr 12 to 12 and its veering close to top 5. Really good. Sabrina is moving down and anyway #Sabrina . The only Sabrina I like is the one who sings peace in the valley. My chart (or songs I streamed most on Apple Music this week): 1- Sombr 12 to 12 2- Myles Smith Stargazing 3- 808 State Pacific State 4- PinkPantheress Reason 5- Doechii Denial is a river So last week to answer your question I am a Millennial born 1988 My favourite genre of music is early house and house in general, hip hop and quality R and B. None of which feature heavily in the charts.

Amazing chart

Some surprises and some expected things this week. Ed Sheeran naturally has the number one album; I'd be stunned if he didn't, and I'm pleasantly surprised that Lady Gaga has kept steady with "The Dead Dance"; I was expecting it to stall out the chart (like the other new entry from last week "Ocean" by Calvin Harris which has fallen out of the top 40), but it seems people like it more than I thought! It definitely deserves it anyway. "12 to 12" heading deeper into the top 10 was not really a surprise nor expected, but I'm glad it's happened! Unfortunately it seems to have dragged Alex Warren up with it... ugh. Sabrina Carpenter also seems to be moving down with the buzz about her album fading a little (the album's also dropped off the number one spot after two weeks), but we'll see if she can recover it somehow as people seem to be telling me she will! For the record, given her previous album, I think Man's Best Friend might get back up on top of the album charts, but I'm not as sure about the singles...

"Play" is a weak album for me.. not sure if I'll return to it.

No Top 40 rankings me from me today. Of the songs I’ve heard, ‘Camera’ would be decent even if Ed’s vocals are a bit too raw for my liking.

‘Folded’ would be in the good tier. Kehlani’s music is hit-or-miss for me but I’m really starting to like this a lot.

‘Gabriela’ would also be in the good tier. Very relieved that this is Katseye’s first song to enter the region instead of ‘Gnarly’.

Sad to see ‘High On Me’ and ‘Jump’ on ACR but at least both of them became moderate successes late in the summer.

Definitely not complaining that ‘Daisies’ and ‘Yukon’ are going down with them.

This was probably the first Ed album that I haven’t gone out of my way to listen to. The singles just didn’t click with me and outside of ‘Camera’, it doesn’t seem like any of the new tracks appealed much to the public.

Disappointed that JADE didn’t get any songs in the Top 40 after all but at least she got ‘Unconditional’ to debut! It’s fine enough even if I wouldn’t put it among my favourite tracks from the album. Shame to see nothing from Sophie Ellis-Bextor make any impact today.

Definitely going to get around to that Twenty One Pilots project as I’ve seen a lot of hype for it.

Yeah.. Ed Sheeran has fallen off and the excuse of him being "old" doesn't work at all. He's 34.

avatar

Foxes

1

I imagine when people say old they're referring more to the fact that's he's spent a decade and a half as a popular artist than his actual age. Very few artists keep singles chart relevance for that long, so him having multiple top 10 singles and one of the biggest album debuts of the year is still pretty good going all things considered. I imagine his future career will look something like Coldplay's, still easily able to get #1 albums and sell out stadiums, but without a massive singles chart presence.
