so one of the members of kneecap got charged with terrorism, this past week he got released on unconditional bail.

the crowds outside the court in support of him were amazing to see. even with the government telling people to fear the group following the terrorism charge and try to get them pulled from festivals, they can’t win. their fans will always stick by them which is beautiful to see especially after the scrutiny they have received for standing against genocide.

i stand with palestine, always. especially when, as it stands, israel won’t stop until every palestinian is wiped out.

and i stand by kneecap throughout all this, and i really look forward to watching their glastonbury set next saturday.

I’m surprised by how well ‘Dior’ is performing. Not my favourite dance song at the moment but it’s definitely better than ‘The Days’.

Pleasantly surprised that Disco Lines & Tinashe made it. The ‘No Broke Boys’ remix is a lot of fun and has so much potential as a summer anthem. Glad to see the latter back in the charts!

I have absolutely no idea why Coldplay and The Black Eyed Peas releases from the 2000s are getting a resurgence. Not my favourites from either group but still very interesting to see.

Even if the quality is a bit of a mixed bag, I think it’s cool that we have four relatively new British female artists in the Top 20 right now.

It gives me some hope for a revival of our national music industry as it’s been having less of an impact as of late. Since the beginning of 2024, we’ve only had three new #1 hits that have featured UK acts.

Hopefully we’ll see more homegrown talent dominate the charts soon, both here and on an international scale.

avatar

Piran

6

Disappointed that Biffy Clyro’s new single didn’t debut, as well as the fact that there aren’t any songs from The Beach Boys returning in tribute to the late Brian Wilson.

I thought the latter would’ve made at least some impact on the charts given the incredible legacy he had. :(

avatar

Piran

4

It may have taken a few listens, but ‘Suzanne’ grew on me a lot throughout the past week.

I like Mark Ronson’s modern soul production and it allows RAYE’s charming vocals to really stand out here. I admire her versatility as a singer a lot, although jazz is absolutely her strongest genre for me and I’d love to hear more of it!

They have another collaboration on the way next week for the F1 soundtrack and based on this, I’m even more excited for it now. :)

7

Can ‘Ordinary’ please go away? 🙄

I really don’t get the appeal of the song for it to even reach the top spot in the first place, let alone spend 13 weeks there.

I just hope it declined in streams this week. That would mean it’ll go on ACR next week and finally be off the summit for good.

H

Hennessy

1

I had hoped being knocked off the 1st spot to 2nd would make it decline but then it came back. I feel like it's never going away at this point.

avatar

Piran

1

It's down by about 700 sales from last week, so there's a chance that this could be its final week. That being said, I'm not getting my hopes up until BuzzJack confirm it.

M-ONKSH

Ravyn Lenae has to take number one. I BEG.

I don't even want Lenae at the top but i can't bare to see it be PPC or Manchild.

Love Me Not should be gone to but it's still slightly bearable for me.

H

Hennessy

1

If Manchild couldn't beat an already declining song, and Dior had that huge jump, I'd probably be betting on that to get number 1
