i've realised that one of the reasons for the recent drought of good hits is that all the heavy-hitter artists released last year and 2025 has almost been completely reliant on new artists. the dominating artists in 2024 were the likes of billie eilish, beyonce, ariana grande, charli xcx, post malone, hozier, dua lipa, kendrick lamar, bruno mars, etc. all massive household names, and while there were breakthrough artists, many had a lot of momentum and backing from the general public and music industry building up for some time (sabrina, chappell, gracie, shaboozey, teddy swims) 

fast forward to 2025, the dominating artists right now are the likes of alex warren, lola young, ravyn lenae, sombr, doechii, chrystal, benson boone, myles smith, wizthemc, etc. the top 40 is mostly new/upcoming artists and regardless of my dislike for a few of their songs, i have to give props where they're due to the newcomers. the massive influx of a-listers releasing music last year and taking a break this year has led to a massive surge of popularity for new artists but also a weird situation where artists who clearly have a lot of growing room are being catapulted into mega stardom chart-wise.

Didn't expect Sleep Token to actually rise with 'Caramel.' Its probably from the release of Damocles.

Looks like ‘Burning Down’, ‘Hometown Glory’ and ‘The Sound Of Silence’ were the major ACR hits today. It was amazing to see one of Adele’s best classics get a resurgence.

Pleasantly surprised to see ‘Party 4 U’ getting a massive boost after Coachella and its recent TikTok virality. It’s a shame that ‘All I Ever Asked’ is falling back though. Rachel Chinouriri deserves more recognition.

Steves Lava Chicken had a decline from midweek.. is it finally leaving?

‘Mystical Magical’ is not good. One of the biggest issues I’ve had with Benson’s vocals is that he just cannot nail a falsetto and this is further proof of that. The interpolation of ‘Physical’ by Olivia Newton-John (one of my favourite hits of the early 80s) doesn’t work at all either.

Even if ‘Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else’ cooled off on me a bit, I’d certainly take that over this any day of the week.

CMON WIZ!! UP A SPOT AGAIN!! You can do it!

Even if I knew it would debut lower down, I’m just happy that ‘Stateside’ charted at all.

Between this and ‘Tonight’, I’m very excited for PinkPantheress’ mixtape next Friday!

Even if I wish she held onto a spot in the Top 10, it’s good to see Lorde back in the chart! She’s an artist that I’ve always liked even if her songs have usually been growers, but ‘What Was That’ clicked with me straight away. :)

Unfortunately, ‘Ordinary’ appears to have avoided ACR. I swear, if this blocks ‘Show Me Love’ from #1… 😐
