Alex Warren takes Ordinary back to the top
As MK celebrates highest-charting single yet with Chrystal collab Dior
So out of the Ordinary! Alex Warren takes his record-breaking track back to Number 1 in the UK this week.
Earlier this month, the breakout Californian singer-songwriter was crowned the US solo artist with longest-running Number 1 single in UK chart history; its 12 consecutive weeks surpassing previous record holder Slim Whitman, who managed an 11-week stint with Rose Marie back in 1955.
Could Alex go on to make it 14 weeks to match Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody? Watch this space.

Last week’s chart-topper slips one; Sabrina Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend single Manchild ends the week at Number 2. It comes as Sabrina scores an Official Chart record, with Short N’ Sweet crowned the solo studio album with the longest consecutive Top 5 streak in UK Official Albums Chart history.
This week’s highest Top 40 climber comes courtesy of MK who celebrates his highest-charting credited single yet, with Chrystal collab Dior rocketing 12 places this week (5). It becomes the Michigan-born DJ and producer’s third UK Top 10, and Chrystal’s second. MK previously tasted Number 1 success, remixing Storm Queen’s chart-topping 2013 hit Look Right Through.
Speaking to Official Charts, MK says:
“Thank you, UK. This is crazy! I didn’t expect this at all, I appreciate it so much!”

Levi Heron’s ‘céil-tech’ takeover continues, as his remix of Beluga Lagoon’s The Glen scales the Official Singles Chart, up two as it inches ever closer to the Top 20 (24).
Congratulations go to BTS’s j-hope, whose GloRilla team-up Killin’ It Girl earns this week’s highest new entry and banks him a solo career-best (30). It becomes the K-pop idol’s second solo Top 40 single, joining 2023 J. Cole collab on the street (37).
Twenty One Pilots sink a fourth Top 40 single with The Contract (33), the first taste of their upcoming eighth studio LP Breach. The Ohio duo – Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun – previously enjoyed similar success with 2016’s Stressed Out (12) and Heathens (5) and 2024’s Overcompensate (34).
Mark Ronson and RAYE’s collaboration Suzanne is new in at Number 34, landing the pair their 12th and 18th Top 40 hits respectively.
The energy never dies! Black Eyes Peas’ 2009 tune Rock That Body returns to the UK Top 40 for the first time in 15 years this week, back in at Number 35. The track, taken from the band’s fifth studio album THE E.N.D. (THE ENERGY NEVER DIES), surges thanks to a viral dance trend taking social media by storm. Rock That Body peaked at Number 11 back in 2010, and has now spent 16 weeks on chart.
Rock That Body has also seen a 232% increase in published creations on TikTok in the UK this week, with 6 million published creations globally in the last month.
Disco Lines’ remix of Tinashe’s 2024 track No Broke Boys sees it break into the Top 40 for the first time this week (30).
And finally, as it goes viral on social media, Coldplay’s Sparks, a track from the band’s 2000 debut album Parachutes, makes the Official Singles Chart for the first time (40). The ballad’s newfound virality comes following frontman Chris Martin’s recent split from Dakota Johnson.

'Ordinary' desperately needs to leave, but outside of that, this was a fine enough week.
I like that 'Suzanne' got a Top 40 debut and that 'No Broke Boys' is even higher than expected.
Very surprised to see Coldplay and The Black Eyed Peas in the region!

I am also very bored of Ordinary being #1 yet again. It’s summer, it’s hot, we need something lively, dance, something we can belt out loud!
