There are moments in history when events collide and create the possibility for real change. America may be in one of those moments.
From the assassination of Charlie Kirk and other political figures across the spectrum to the tragic mass shootings at places of worship, it’s clear that our nation’s political and religious divides have turned deadly. People across the country are saying: Enough.
On November 6, Newsweek and AllSides will co-host the National Roundtable on Political Violence. This groundbreaking event will bring together thousands of Americans from all walks of life for one purpose: to talk, listen, and find common ground.
More than 10,000 participants are expected to join online. Each will be paired in small, diverse groups of 4–6 people for guided video conversations with their political opposites. Together, they’ll explore the roots of division, share personal experiences, and end with real commitments to action—in their communities, online, and in daily life.
We all have a role to play in reducing political violence—whether it’s in how we speak on social media, engage at school board meetings, or interact with friends and neighbors. Let’s rediscover what unites us and take the first step toward healing.
