EIGHT -ENDER SPARKS MRS. G. R. WILLIAMSON'S BATHURST RINK TO N.B. LADIES CURLING TITLE EDMUNDSTON (CP) - An eight-ender in the final end Friday night gave the New Brunswick ladies' curling championship to Mrs. G. R. Williamson's Bathurst rink. A Dalhousie rink skipped by Mrs. Karen Jorgensen was the loser 15-10, in the last match of the four bonspiel. Mrs. McMurray, a veteran competitor, called the Bathurst shots and played as mate. Mrs. A. R. Jamieson | | was second and Mrs. C. A. Roussel, lead. Dalhousie led 10-7 going into the dramatic 10th end. Bathurst filled the house when Mrs. Jorgensen was wide on an out turn. Mrs. Williamson made a beautiful inturn draw for the first eight-ender in singles competition. By ends: Dalhousie 021 100 501 0-10 Bathurst 200 022 010 8-15 Mrs. McMurray won the championship in 1949 for Bathurst. The same year, at Saint John, Mrs. P. A. Clark of Moncton curlers had an eightender in doubles competition. In a morning match Mrs. J. C. Peck of Saint John St. Andrew's reached the semifinal, by Sackville, defeating 9-7. Mrs. Then J. Mrs. B Jorgensen edged the I Peck rink 9-8, a five-ender clinching the victory and sending Dalhousie to the final. The Dalhousie team had eliminated Mrs. K. E. Trecartin, Saint John Thistle, 9-6. Mrs. H. C. Boyer, Saint John St. Andrew's, won' the consolaiton final, edging Mrs. W. R. Clarke of Fredericton 7-6. In the consolation semi-finals, Mrs. Boyer trimmed Mrs. E. J. Dugay, Saint John Thistle, 13-6 while Mrs. Clarke won 12-10 over Mrs. J. W. Demcoe of Moncton Curler's Association.
