The legislative candidate's wife, Madelyn Espinosa Butler, is due to deliver their second child Nov. 16. Being an obstetrician herself, he says, she's seeing signs she might be just a little early this time. If his wife delivers on election night, Butler says, "my first priority is the labor and delivery room; my family comes first among all things." Politics is something of a new birth itself for the Davis Islands Republican. Butler's run for incumbent Democrat Jim Davis' House District 56 seat, snaking from Carrollwood Village to Balm, is his first try for public office. Butler is a senior sales representative at Universal Studio's Tampa office, working with corporate programs, promotions and conventions. If elected, he says, he'll take two months of leave from work every year for the legislative session. Universal encourages community service by its employees, he says. While Universal also may have its own goals in Tallahassee, Butler says he hasn't discussed it with company executives.
