Fox affiliate KRXI to start local newscast By Wayne Melton RENO GAZETTEeno's 22-month-old Fox R _Channel Broadcasting 11, will affiliate, launch its KRXI-TV first local newscast at 10 o'clock in 1999. The network's top news executive applauded the announcement, saying the newscast will shake up the region's TV market. "We're not going to be the followers; we're going to be the leaders," said Joseph Saitta, vice president of news for Fox Broadcasting Co. Fox hasn't done an in-depth study of its Reno-area local TV news competitors. If the region follows a nationwide trend, it's packed with dull or similar newscasts, a pattern a KRXI News would smash, Saitta said. Executives at other Reno-area TV stations said they doubted KRXI's newscast would have much impact on the local market. And some of them took offense to Saitta's suggestion that S local TV news might be dull or similar.
