REAL ESTATE NOTES Raphael N. Friedman, senior partner in the architectural firm of Friedman, Alschuler & Sincere, has agreed to organize representatives of the building industry to assist the Illinois Institute of Technology in financing the Friedman development of its department of architecture, said John T. Rettaliata, institute president. Friedman will enroll. architects, contractors, and building material suppliers to help obtain $300,000, about half the cost of a building to house architecture, design, and urban and regional planning departments. Construction will be started shortly on a half million dollar block of stores on the south side of Devon av., between California av. and Mozart st., from plans by Clarence L. Dahlquist and Associates. Lighted parking for 150 cars will be provided. Several of the proposed 10 stores already are leased, said Sam Peachin of Sher & Peachin, sponsor. Hawthorne Garden Builders, Inc., sponsor of a recently completed 4 million dollar development of 200 homes in the west Rogers Park area, is building 150 homes in the neighborhood of 54th av. and 36th st., Cicero. A model home is at 3600 S. 54th av. The two and three bedroom homes are priced between $14,950 and $16,500, said Maurice Revitz, president of the firm. Arthur F. . Mohl, partner in Downs, Mohl & Co., realtor, and secretary of the Real Estate Research corporation, was appointed chairman of the Chicago Real Estate board's house committee for 1954-55 by President Harry H. Harper. Other members are James W. Belanger, Arthur M. Freytag, Ward J. Gauntlett, and Harold Wellin. Harper also appointed Alan M. Purling of Arthur Rubloff & Co., chairman of the board's program committee. Other members are Gene R. Beak, Walter R. Drennan, Kenneth R. Jensen, and H. Hoyt Mohl Mohl
