A Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream Truck Is Hitting the Road for Stranger Things Day

    All aboard the USS Butterscotch.
    Nov. 10, 2023

In the words of Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream Parlor’s captain Steve Harrington (Joe Keery), “Would you like to set sail on this ocean of flavor with me?”

Just because you can’t visit Starcourt Mall on a hot day and have Steve or Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) treat you to a chocolate scoop doesn’t mean the USS Butterscotch has sailed away for good. To help you kick the end-of-summer blues, Netflix and Walmart are bringing you a whole line of Scoops Ahoy ice cream flavors this fall, all tied to episodes, themes, and characters from the world of Stranger Things.

Where can I get Scoops Ahoy ice cream?

Pints of Scoops Ahoy goodness are available at Walmart and Walmart.com/netflix now. But we’ve got a special treat for you, nerds. To celebrate Stranger Things Day on Nov. 6, the Scoops Ahoy ice cream truck is heading to three (!) cities across the nation: Houston, Las Vegas, and Atlanta. Find the information on each location below.

Houston, Texas

Baybrook Mall
500 Baybrook Mall
Friendswood, TX 77546

Las Vegas, Nevada

Downtown Summerlin
1980 Festival Plaza Drive
Las Vegas, NV 89135

Atlanta, Georgia

Perimeter Mall
4400 Ashford Dunwoody Road
Atlanta, GA 30346

These trucks will be making their delectable pit stops from Nov. 4 through Nov. 6, and will be parked from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time each day. Stranger Things fans will be delighted with free Scoops Ahoy ice cream while supplies last. Flavors include the USS Butterscotch and The Void.

With each scoop, fans will also get a Scoops Ahoy paper hat and a coupon to get $1 off one pint of Scoops Ahoy at Walmart while supplies last. The redemption period for the coupons lasts from Nov. 4, 2023, through Jan. 31, 2024. The coupon is redeemable at all Walmart locations and is first come, first served. All’s fair in love and ice cream!

And that’s not all. In São Paulo, Bacio di Latte is turning stores into Scoops Ahoy ice cream parlors and presenting a new menu inspired by the series. In the UK, Pan-n-Ice parlors will debut limited-edition flavors and take them on the road throughout the country with their ice cream truck. In Italy, La Romana Gelateria will feature two new gelato flavors that will also be available in a milkshake version. In Okinawa, Blue Seal is set to unveil a special edition of their Ice Cream Sandwich alongside a range of apparel and accessories from Family Mart and ENSKY.

What are the Scoops Ahoy ice cream flavors?

Still hungry after trying the USS Butterscotch and The Void at the Scoops Ahoy ice cream truck? Take a look at the menu below for a closer look at every flavor from your Upside Down dreams.

USS Butterscotch

Flavor profile: At ease, sailor! Salty-sweet caramel ribbons and chocolate swirls await you aboard this frozen butterscotch dreamboat.
Stranger Things inspo: An in-world item, the USS Butterscotch sundae was featured and mentioned often in Season 3 of the show. It’s an all-time favorite for many a Starcourt Mall patron, but “You Can’t Spell ‘America’ without ‘Erica’ ” Sinclair (Priah Ferguson) in particular.
Enjoy with: Season 3, Episode 1 and Season 3, Episode 4

Chocolate Pudding

Flavor profile: This is the chocolate pudding ice cream you’ve been searching for, featuring chocolate ice cream, chocolate fudge swirls, and vanilla wafers so sweet, you’ll forget the lunch lady ever hoarded all the cups.
Stranger Things inspo: A tribute to Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), this flavor pulls together some of the iconic Season 1 moments that made our favorite explorer into an instant fan favorite.
Enjoy with: Season 1, Episode 4 and Season 1, Episode 8

Cinnamon Bun Bytes

Flavor profile: There’s Know-Where sweeter than the ice cream shop with cinnamon ice cream, swirled with cinnamon cream cheese and cinnamon roll dough.
Stranger Things inspo: Reminisce on Suzie’s (Gabriella Pizzolo) summer of love with sweetheart Dustin, aka “Dusty Bun” (Matarazzo), in Season 3. Also, don’t forget Dustin rocks a “Byte Off” T-shirt in Season 4.
Enjoy with: Season 3, Episode 8; Season 4, Episode 4; and Season 4, Episode 5

Triple Decker Extravaganza

Flavor profile: Indulge in Hopper (David Harbour) and Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) legendary treat with this vanilla and butter ice cream, swirled with maple ribbons, chocolate peanut butter candy, and El’s favorite waffle bites.
Stranger Things inspo: A shared sentimental treat, Hopper was quick to feed Eleven’s love of waffles. Special occasions called for an equally special treat, and the Triple Decker Extravaganza was born.
Enjoy with: Season 2, Episode 3

Beware of the three flavors inspired by the Upside Down…

Mint Flare

Flavor profile: Bust open the flavor gates with this mint ice cream concoction, melded together with rainbow confetti particles and chocolate chunks that just might blow your mind.
Stranger Things inspo: Celebrate the holidays the Byers way, with plenty of Joyce’s (Winona Ryder) lights, family, and friends by your side. Mint Flare is also a nod to Season 2’s main villain, the Mind Flayer.
Enjoy with: Season 1, Episode 3

Pineapple Upside Down

Flavor profile: This pineapple ice cream puts the Upside Down in pineapple upside down cake, with chunks of pound cake and salted caramel swirls that’ll have your head spinning.
Stranger Things inspo: A nod to Surfer Boy Pizza’s own Argyle (Eduardo Franco), who is an ardent supporter of pineapple on pizza. Never had Pineapple Upside Down ice cream? As Argyle would say, try before you deny!
Enjoy with: Season 4, Episode 2

The Void

Flavor profile: You never know what lurks below the surface! Dive into delicious oblivion with a spoonful of black vanilla ice cream, filled with strawberry ribbons and decadent vanilla cream cookie pieces. Just like Hawkins, this flavor is not what you might expect. In fact, you might say it’s “Upside Down.”
Stranger Things inspo: Eleven channeling her powers when she enters the blackness of The Void.
Enjoy with: Season 2, Episode 9
